* X-Ray Spex was a legendary early English punk band. Founded in 1977, they consisted of singer Poly Styrene (born Marion Elliot), Jak Airport on guitars, Paul Dean on bass and BP Hurding on drums, and Laura Logic on saxophone. Characteristic was the hunted, piercing, hysterical voice of Poly Styrene, and the saxophone, which was not otherwise a classic punk occupation.

Poly Styrene was the flagship of the group. She wore braces and pointedly said in an interview that she would immediately shave his head if it would be a sex symbol. The band put out songs like Oh Bondage Up Yours, Identity, Germ Free Adolescents. It existed until 1979. The lyrics deal mostly critical, sometimes ironic to modern life.

1979 brought out another solo album Poly Styrene Translucence and then joined the Hare Krishna movement. In 1995, the group found for album Conscious Consumer together again, could not tie on earlier successes. source. Wikipedia
